The London Cycle Show 2007
Last year we tramped all the way over to London Excel, the convention centre in London’s Docklands for the 2006 London Cycle Show. It took an improbable amount of time to get there and felt as if we had been transported into a post apocalyptic future, as everything does when it’s in the Docklands. It certainly didn’t feel like London that’s for sure (apologies to any DL residents).
Despite this, it was rather a good show (there a bunch of our Cycle Show 2006 photos on Flickr to prove it). Thankfully, this year the show has grown up enough to justify a more central location in Earls Court which will certainly make our lives easier getting to it.
And get to it we shall, probably on the Friday, the first day open to the public. It generally offers the first opportunity for Dave to plan his annual bike spend, which is becoming increasingly important to the rest of us who subsist on his generous hand me down programme (only joking Dave!). Actually I can’t believe I said that given my current trail machine.
If you’ve never been but are a bit of a tyre kicker or showroom fork bouncer this will fulfill your inner nerding needs. And for us veterans, it’s good for direct product comparisons that you are rarely able to do at your Local Bike Shop. Whatever you do though, either bring some food yourself or accept that the people running the food concessions will see you coming, turn you upside down and shake you until every penny (and quite a few pounds) has been deposited in their tills!
More information, including the opportunity to book online and save three pounds towards your food budget, in available on the Cycle Show 2007 website.
It’s being held on October 12-14. See you there.
