These guys are responsible. But responsible for what you might well ask!

So imagine the scene. I’m sat at work, working quietly on world domination, thinking what a beautiful day it seems outside when all of a sudden I receive an email. The Friday slack attack is out in force…

Yesterday I commuted to work on the road bike – 35 miles round trip with temperatures ranging from -2.5° to 0°. I enjoyed myself. But it was not mountain biking.

These guys are responsible. But responsible for WHAT??

Neither of course is Swinley. But this week I’d been thinking that we haven’t been over there for a long time and if its lost something of the natural feel it once had, it at least is likely to be more rideable than the curse of Ranmore mud.

As perfectly illustrated by our growing posse of Friday slackers in these pics. Hope you had a great ride guys!

Thanks Matt. It was superb but you were missed. 🙂

Jem appears to have stepped out of a Saturday Night Fever remake in the first picture.

Swinley was great. Completely dry, very quiet with a cold easterly wind although if you kept you jumper on (Karl 🙂 ) it was warm enough to keep you moving.

Oh dear.. a senior moment for me. forgot to take off my woolly jumper before heading off. Have soaked 4 layers with sweat, and bonked after only about a mile. No brekkey either.

A visit to mum’s on the way home sorted out my dietry needs!

An enjoyable ride, albeit a tortuous one, as the company was good. No way I could keep up with those 12cylinder units tho!

Did we mention Tony’s mishap when his rear wheel came out of the drops on a steep rooty ascent? No, thought not, but it was hilarious to observe from close quarters.
I nearly had him and the bl@@dy Pronghorn tumbling back down on top of me! 🙂

Pure raw power Kev forcing the wheel out of the drop out.

Only a fool would have ridden off having not properly checked and done up the QR……errr….

Best ride for ages, NO MUD! Although trying to keep up with Tony’s plastic bike was an effort!

I haven’t been to Swinley for ages. Would have been nice but unfortunately I was required to work today unlike some!

Even if I’d not been working I got home from yesterday’s ride only to sit for 40minutes shivering in front of a fan heater. After finally warming up I spent the whole night sweating until my cough and cold set in mid morning. Happy days!!!

    Nice pics Kev!

Loving the old boys attempt of a selfie AND a photo bomb all in one. Down with the kids some might day… Clearly not having to work like us regular people on a Friday is making you all more youthful.

If I sound bitter it’s because I am. I’m very jealous of a non muddy mountain bike riding, even a swine one!

    You are short a slacker.

It is a given that Dandy would not be working so he must be off on a well earned (stop sniggering) holiday to recover from all his work dodging efforts of the last few weeks since his last well earned (all that laughing is not polite) holiday.

    Dandy says:

Regrettably I’ve very little time for slacking right now, on account of only having 12 ‘working’ days between last week’s skiing trip to Macedonia and the next one to Japan in March. It’s a good job I’ve another holiday planned for April to recover ?
