Bedgbury postponed, Afan looming

A while back I posted about our plans to try a few different things this year and stretch out beyond the Surrey Hills.

In typical fashion, we’ve hit a metaphorical bump in the trail before we’ve even started. As others have said, the path of life is strewn with cowpats from the devil’s own satanic herd.

Last weekend was supposed to be the date for our trip to Bedgebury. Unfortunately, quite apart from the miserable weather, we had to adjust plans because Jem preferred Saturday to the original Sunday. Then it turned out Mark couldn’t make Saturday and it transpired that Neil, our man to recommend Bedgebury in the first place was working the weekend as well.

So, our plans are on hold until after our jaunt down to Afan in Wales which is still on track for June 2nd. Which when you think about it is not far away, causing some of our number to worry that they have the sufficient fitness to tackle ‘proper’ riding. I don’t think there’s any need for worry, when you think about it these trail centres are built for Mountain Bikers and as we all know, Mountain Bike riders come in all shapes and sizes. So although it’s unlikely any records will be broken (unless we buy a huge box of second hand LPs and drop them in the car park), I’m pretty sure we’ll all get round.

Bedgbury will have to wait. But I’ve also been toying with the idea of an epic Summer Solstice night ride ending at Holmbury for a karmic sunrise and I’m going to start to push my fellow Moles for a South Downs ride as well. Oh, and my ride into London is on the cards as well.

Thanks for reading,
Matt
