Muddymoles mountain biking in the Surrey Hills and Mole Valley

What is an average ride like?

It struck me that anyone stumbling upon the “new” blog might wonder what sort of ride is “average” for us on a Sunday.

Today for example we covered about 16 miles in about 3 hours (for me, door to door). That was mainly offroad, bridleway or similar starting in Leatherhead’s Bocketts Farm, via Ranmore, Box Hill and back. Conditions were quite slow today with lots of mud and slippery leaves. Of course, there isn’t really an average ride but that gives you a good idea.

The pace wasn’t too high, definitely a social ride, proved when we were passed going up Box Hill by a group of 5 riders making us look like right old slow coaches. I’ll let them off though as it was good to see Nick who used to work for Cycleworks (Leatherhead and Burpham) and have a short chat.
