A year’s mileage

So, just over a year ago I posted about my mileage at the start of the year with a view to seeing how many miles I was going to do through 2006.

I thought confidently at the time that I would be able to rack up a pretty good off-road figure but alas it was not to be as the table below shows. In these situations it’s always good to have a number of plausible excuses to make for my terrible performance, for example that I had discovered salvation was only possible from the teachings of Jesus Christ which meant I couldn’t ride on Sundays but that (in particular) would be nonsense.

Instead, I have poor excuses – laziness, indolence, a young family, a house move, redundancy and a major website build (more later) have all contributed. But the good news is I have a new bike on the horizon, in fact coupled with the as yet unridden On-one I have two new bikes on the horizon which must surely motivate me.

Anyway, here’s the stats:

A comparison of bike mileage during 2006
Bike Start 2006 End 2006 Total
All figures in miles
Marin Rift Zone 2954 3438 484
On-one Inbred 0 26 26

So in total, that’s 510 miles for the year versus 938 for 2005. That’s only 10 miles a week or to put it another way an average of 1 hour’s riding a week for the whole of 2006.

Oh dear!

Thanks for reading,
Matt
